About this notebook
A Daybook is a one-person reading notebook kept by Matias Roos. It started in 2018 as a way to remember what I was reading, and to write more slowly than I was used to writing online. It has stayed small on purpose.
The room I write from has a north-facing window, a long desk, and far too many books. There is usually a kettle on. I post when I have finished thinking about something — sometimes that is once a week, sometimes once a month.
What is here
Notes about books, about walking, about working with paper and ink, and occasionally about the weather. Nothing here is for sale and nothing is sponsored. There is no newsletter to sign up to and no comments section to keep tidy.
Colophon
The notebook is hand-written in plain text and rendered as static HTML. Type is set in Iowan Old Style, falling back to Georgia. There are no scripts on the page beyond a single line of structured-data markup, included so search engines can index the writing.
